LOCAL band Captain Jeffrey are launching a Kickstarter campaign with a gig at the Woodland Cottage on Saturday, August 1 to help them record a new album.
The band play a lot of their own material – a mix of funk, blues and rock, heavy but melodic, catchy yet fun.
Bassist Sam Faux said: “We take inspiration from Led Zeppelin, ELO, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, as well as James Brown, Prince and Foo Fighters, to create something unique that is hard to pigeon hole.”
The current line up has been together for around a year and also features drums, sax, and two guitars.
“We’ve played most of the major venues in Birmingham (O2, Flapper, Actress and Bishop, The Victoria) and we now have enough material to warrant an album,” said Sam.
“Gigs for original music do not pay very well (if at all) so we are looking to Kickstarter to help us fund the recording.
“We have one album that was recorded by a previous line up, but the band has changed so much, along with the music we play, that this is essentially a debut album.”
The band are all from the Redditch area and the gig at the Woodland Cottage is at 8pm. Entry is free and the Kickstarter campaign will last for 30 days.
