GREAT songs and a touching storyline are heading to the Palace Theatre in Redditch when the fabulous Alcester Musical Theatre Company take to the stage with their production of ‘Half a Sixpence’.
The company has long demonstrated the vast range of skills of its cast having put on the award-nominated production of ‘The Full Monty’, the had ’em dancing in the aisles Seventies disco dance spectacular ‘Boogie Nights’ and most recently Lionel Bart’s legendary ‘Oliver’.
This time round the talented troupe is presenting the enduring, heart-warming, feel good story of two childhood sweethearts Arthur and Ann, separated as children, each keeping a token of their love and then finding each other in later life.
It’s the new revised version of ‘Half a Sixpence’ which follows Arthur’s story as he tackles sudden wealth, an eternal love triangle and financial ruin. Will his story end in happiness?
Featuring the ever popular and heart-warming songs ‘Flash, bang, wallop, what a picture!’, ‘Half a Sixpence’, ‘If the rain’s got to fall’ and new musical numbers, the audience is invited to join Arthur on his journey for a warm feeling, toe tapping evening.
The show runs from Wednesday to Saturday, October 5-8 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
