A HOPWOOD centenarian marked the marvellous milestone with a special visit from her family.
Mary Draper was joined by her two daughters, Margaret and Elizabeth, at Hopwood Court Retirement Home on Tuesday (March 24) to celebrate turning 100.
The great grandmother of four, who also has three grandchildren, was born in Handsworth, Birmingham, in 1915 and studied at King Edward VI Grammar School.
She met her late husband George during her time with a youth choir and the couple later married in 1940. The pair, who enjoyed taking holidays in Scotland and who moved to Redditch in 1987, were together for 68 years until he passed away in 2008, aged 94.
Mary, who is ‘still as sharp as anything’, was also a Brown Owl and Sunday school teacher.
