A FAMILY-run Redditch off-licence is celebrating 100 years of serving the community in Lakeside.
Jimmy Baker took over Lakeside Stores from his mother last year, who lovingly ran the shop for ten years until her husband died.
The 46-year-old left his retail career in London to take the reins and has given the shop, which has stood the test of a time, a new makeover and update to ensure it keeps ticking over for another 100 years.
He said: “I am pretty sure it was one of the first stores in Redditch, if not the first, to become an official off-licence in 1926, but it had been running for several years before that.”
Since taking over Jimmy has installed a coffee machine and electric and gas payments for customers to keep them coming in.
