A life-saving message in a bottle

Redditch Editorial 4th Nov, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

LIFE-SAVING messages in bottles are set to be handed out over the counter to help those living alone.

The special containers, which give emergency services details about a resident if they are unable to, are kept in the fridge with a green sticker on the inside of the person’s door to alert paramedics to its presence.

Organised by Redditch Lions, the bottles are available in most pharmacies and GP surgeries across the area.

A spokesman said: “Whilst it is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can fall downstairs or collapse and be found unconscious in their own home.

“As a minimum, it will save the emergency services valuable time identifying you, your emergency contacts and whether you have special medication or allegies.

“It is a potential life-saver and provides peace of mind to users, their friends and families.”

Anyone unable to find a bottle should call Redditch Lions Club on 0845 833 5914.
