MONEY raised to send a terminally ill boy to Disneyland has now been used to pay for his special resting place.

Carson Taylor passed away in June last year after battling cancer.

The four-year-old had been fighting a number of illnesses since he was born.

At just a few months old he underwent a major operation and doctors also discovered a tumour in the left chamber of his heart.

The brave youngster was then diagnosed with a brain tumour and despite 12 months of chemotherapy he suffered a relapse just a month before passing away.

His mother Emma O’Donnell, along with other family members, originally called on the community to help raise funds to send him to Disneyland Paris where he could meet his favourite superheroes.

But he sadly lost his battle and passed away before going on the trip.

About £4,500 was made through fund-raising events including a fun day at the White Hart Inn which instead were used to pay for a funeral, wake and laying him to rest in the town’s crematorium.

His grandmother, Suzanne O’Donnell, said the family wanted to thank all those who donated as well as the support from local companies including Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors and As Time Goes By memorials.

“His resting place is perfect for him, it is just what he would have wanted although we never wanted it to come to this. It’s beautiful and we would have never been able to pay for something like this without everyone.

“He was a little fighter, who never complained once. He was always smiling and that’s how we want to remember him.”
