THE MAYOR of Redditch has scaled new heights by reaching the summit of Britain’s highest mountain.
Wanda King and fellow borough councillor Joe Baker climbed Ben Nevis in aid of the Mayor’s charities.
It took the pair six hours to reach the top and Coun Baker said he had not realised how difficult it would be.
“If asked to do it again I would definitely say a big no, maybe a sponsored hair shave next time.”
Coun King added Ben Nevis was bigger than she had imagined.
“After six hours we finally got to the top where we both gave each other a hug. It was unbelievable that we had finally made it, very emotional indeed.”
The pair’s efforts have raised over £900 for the Primrose Hospice, Redditch Special Olympics and Myeloma UK.
