THE UK’s largest charity that supports the elderly, has made its mark on Redditch.
Staff at Age UK have opened the charity’s first shop in the town with Coun Juliette Brunner offically opening the store in the Matchborough Shopping Centre on Friday (August 21).
Angela Booton, head of services for Age UK Redditch, said: “It was great to see so much support and we hope that we can be a real part of the Matchborough community hub.”
The shop will provide revenue for the charity which will help it fund its free services for the elderly along with providing a second-hand retail outlet for Redditch residents.
Sue Howler, the store manager, who already successfully runs three Age UK charity shops In Bromsgrove, will lead a team of local volunteers in selling donated goods and providing a Signposting service to many of Age UK Redditch’s projects.
The shop is dependent on volunteers and welcomes anyone over 15 years of age, to gain valuable experience with the charity.
