POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Matchborough at around 9.10am on Monday, May 30.

Two men wearing dark clothing with their faces covered, entered the Simply Local store in Dilywn Close.

They threatened the shopkeeper with a crowbar and a small axe, then grabbed some of the shop’s takings before making off towards Felton Close.

The first suspect, armed with the crowbar, was wearing a grey hooded top and a short black coat, with the grey hood worn outside of the jacket, black tracksuit bottoms with a wide grey stripe to the sides, grey gloves, white trainers, and a black scarf covering his face.

The second suspect, armed with the axe, was wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms, black gloves, white trainers and also had a black scarf covering his face.

Det Con Nick Gianfagna from West Mercia Police said: “Thankfully no-one was hurt in the robbery, but it left the shopworker very shaken.

“We are extremely keen to track down the offenders and urge anyone who may have seen anything to contact police.

“Officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area and any information, no matter how small, could help our investigation.
