Bearded buds raise £1,500 in Bob’s memory

Redditch Editorial 20th Jun, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A PAIR of Redditch men have used their facial hair to raise hundreds of pounds for charity in memory of a friend.

Gary Leaver and Paul Paintin ditched their razors for five months as a tribute to their childhood friend Simon ‘Bob’ Willis, who died of cancer last year aged 42.

They started their challenge on February 1, allowing their facial hair to go untrimmed, before a grand shave-off on Saturday (June 14) on what would have been Bob’s 44th birthday.

The pair’s efforts raised more than £1,500 for Cancer Research UK.
