YOUNGSTERS have been helping the RNLI stay a float as part of a school topic about the sea.
Year 2 children from Crabbs Cross Academy had the chance to meet members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute to learn more about the work they do.
As well as picking up life-saving tips, they also got first-hand experience by dressing up as real life boat crew members.
The pupils were also keen to raise money for the charity by creating cake souvenirs to sell.
They then spent a morning also baking cakes with ingredients donated by Sainsbury’s.
In total they raised close to £80 which will buy a pair of reinforced steel toe capped wellies and a safety line to put onto a life jacket.
