BLOOD sucking ticks are in danger of spreading Lyme Disease among Redditch’s four legged friends and their owners.
Incidents of the ticks are being reported earlier in the year and their season is lasting longer and longer.
In an effort to combat problem Southcrest Vet Centre in Mount Pleasant and Batchley’sSpecial Friends Animal Medical Centre have joined with naturalist and TV presenter Chris Packham, to take part in the ‘Big Tick Project’.
As a result they are encouraging residents to bring their pets in for a tick check and advice about effective tick control.
Any pests found will be sent to Bristol University laboratories to help advance the knowledge of Lyme Disease.
“Ticks are a growing problem,”said Chris Packham. “While I find both ticks and fleas interesting creatures, I don’t want them on my dogs, in my house, or on me.”
