GREEN-FINGERED gardeners brought home the gold for the borough for the fourth year running.
Redditch Borough Council scooped the top award in the Heart of England Bloom Awards when the results were announced during a ceremony in Shrewsbury today (Thursday).
The borough was visited in July by judges who took a tour of Church Green, Where Next Nursery, Forge Mill Museum, Arrow Valley Park and Headless Cross Green as well as having lunch with the campaign sponsors and key town representatives at the Palace Theatre.
Coun Debbie Taylor, responsible for the environment, said: “While receiving this gold award for the fourth year running is absolutely fabulous, you only have to look at the borough to see that we really keep going from strength to strength when it comes to making it bloom.
“Once again the hard work of all staff and members, despite dwindling Government grants, has paid off and, as well as winning a national award, we have created a beautiful borough for everyone to enjoy and be proud of.”
