Bright idea to help raise cash

Redditch Editorial 20th Nov, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

THE PRIMROSE Hospice has launched its annual Tree of Lights festive fund-raiser in Redditch.

Residents can include the name of a loved one in one of the remembrance books placed around the Christmas tree in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, at the town’s crematorium and at Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors, in return for a donation.

Money raised will help fund the charity’s work with those affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

The appeal has been running for 17 years and together with the Lights of Love in Bromsgrove, raised more than £24,000 in 2013. So far £14,500 has already been pledged for this year’s fund-raiser.

A memorial service is also taking place at St Stephen’s Church at 2pm on Sunday (November 23), for those who wish to light a candle in memory of a loved one.

The event will be supported by Deaf Direct and a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter will also be at the service.

Envelopes for donations are available at the Primrose Hospice shop in Alcester Street and readers can also use the coupon on this page. Call 01527 889796 for more information.
