Bromsgrove housing trust buys Redditch properties

THE LARGEST provider of affordable housing in Bromsgrove has taken on 42 properties in Redditch.

Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht) has purchased 27 flats, houses and bungalows in Woodrow North, four flats and a bungalow in Batchley and ten flats in Matchborough West from Bournville Village Trust (BVT) which wants to focus its efforts more on Birmingham.

bdht, which has also bought a shop in Woodrow, said it was chosen because BVT was only willing to sell to an organisation which it felt could match the high level of service it offered its tenants and provide a local service from a local office.

All tenants in the properties have been contacted and, in most cases, bdht representatives carried out a home visit to ensure a smooth handover took place.

Mark Robertson, bdht’s managing director, said: “We have been looking to expand our reach beyond Bromsgrove for some time now and had identified Redditch as a priority area due to its proximity to our head office and our staff’s knowledge of the area.

“We’re really pleased to have been chosen by BVT to purchase and manage these homes, particularly as they have such a careful selection process.”

Annette Homer, the BVT’s director of housing and community services, said: “It’s extremely important to us to maintain high service levels for all of our tenants and we were really impressed by the service and commitment offered by bdht.”
