BUILDERS and developers working in Redditch are to start facing charges for naming streets and numbering of houses after the move was unanimously agreed by the borough’s executive committee.
The move would bring in an annual income of approximately £15,000 to the council and also help safeguard jobs at the authority.
Members heard that local authorities had in the past provided this service for free but that increasingly councils across the country were now charging for it.
It is projected that developers would be charged £244 for naming each new road and £24 for naming each new property, with the first property being charged at £121.
