AN ASTWOOD Bank committee is on the lookout for three very special residents to be crowned as Carnival Royalty as plans for the village’s big day begin to swing in motion.
The Carnival Committee are seeking candidates for this year’s Carnival Queen, Prince and Princess, who will be transported in a horse-drawn carriage around the carnival procession route on the day itself, Saturday July 9.
This year the Prince and Princess applications have taken a slightly different form as all would-be royalty must showcase their talents in a talent show at Astwood Bank First School on May 14.
Applicants must be between the ages of six and 13 and either live in, or go to school in Astwood Bank to qualify.
The Carnival Queen should be between 14 and 25-years-old and must live within a 10 mile radius of Astwood Bank.
To apply for the role, would-be Queens should simply write a short piece about themselves, including hobbies, interests and any other information and include a photo of themselves.
All applications should be received no later than May 3 and can be submitted to Vicky Johnson via email@example.com while applications for Prince and Princess can be handed into Astwood Bank First school reception.
