Calls for hospital trust board to be replaced are rejected

CALLS for the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust board to be replaced have been rebuffed by the NHS Trust Development Authority, the body created to oversee trusts.

Rebecca Blake, parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party for Redditch, echoing concerns raised by the four consultants who resigned over patient safety, made the call after seeing the lack of response from the head of the trust.

“Local people want and deserve a categorical statement that patients are safe at the Alex and the silence from the management of the Trust and their regulator is deafening. I’m left wondering once again, who is taking responsibility for our local NHS.” she said.

Local MP Karen Lumley said that a local Quality Surveillance Group, which includes national organisations such as the NHS and TDA, would looking into the current concerns raised about A&E and they would agree how they will be tackled in the next few days.
