A capital effort from Alvechurch mum Faye

FLEET-footed Faye Brennan has raised more than £620 for the Cramar Cat Sanctuary by running the London Marathon.

The mum started running four years ago and joined Alvechurch Road Runners, taking part in 5K and 10K races before progressing to two half-marathons last year for Macmillan and the British Heart Foundation.

She entered the London Marathon and was lucky enough to get a ballot place – she started training in December and decided she wanted to help a small local charity.

Growing up her family always had cats and dogs but Faye’s real love was cats and so Cramar seemed the natural choice.

She was amazed at how many cats and kittens Cramar had.

She said: “They were all lovely and so well looked after – the staff were very friendly and helpful too.

“I have always believed that, as they grow up, children should always have a pet.”

Faye crossed the finishing line in four hours, 27 minutes.

“It was an amazing but a tough experience and I’m very proud of myself.”

She said raising the cash was the important thing.

There is still time for people to contribute to Faye’s total by visiting http://bit.ly/1qfM85A and donating there.

There has also been an added bonus for Faye – Cramar staff named a cat brought into the centre after her when they found out she would be pounding the streets of London.
