A MAN remains in a critical condition after a severe car crash near the Abbey Stadium.

The 65-year-old, who was driving a red Citroen on the A441 Birmingham Road last Friday, is currently being treated at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

He is believed to have suffered a heart attack at the scene but fast acting ambulance crews managed to re-start his heart.

A 31-year-old, who was driving a blue Skoda Octavia, was also treated for shoulder and chest injuries.

The collision happened around 12.45pm and the road was closed until 4pm.

The incident was initially witnessed by a passing ambulance crew who stopped to help.

A second ambulance, a paramedic area support officer and a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle were also sent to the scene.

Anyone with any information about the crash should call West Mercia Police on 101.
