A SUPPORT group for visually impaired people received a £5,000 donation from a Redditch bank.

The Redditch Association for the Blind was given the cash boost by staff from Santander Bank.

The group helps about 250 registered blind and partially sighted people in the borough and surrounding area by giving annual grants and financial support to help make members’ lives easier and more fulfilled.

Some of the money donated will be used to take 45 members to the Broadway Divas show at the Palace Theatre.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: “As you are aware our association relies on the Redditch people’s kindness to raise funds for the visually impaired people in our area.

“You can imagine our thrill when Santander gave up a cheque for £5,000.

“It was such a large amount for which we are very grateful.”
