A RARE chance to hear one of the greatest choral works sung with one of the UK’s leading singers comes to Redditch next Saturday, June 11.

Redditch Choral Society is presenting Haydn’s monumental work ‘The Creation’ backed by the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and featuring the world class Royal Opera House bass Jeremy White.

He’ll be joined on stage by renowned soprano Katie Leaver and tenor Sean Clayton while the 30-strong orchestra will be led by Peter Bridle.

And with tickets a mere £12 (£10 concessions) the concert, in St Stephens Church in Redditch town centre, represents a unique opportunity for music lovers to see and hear classical musical at its very best.

The concert, which is being part-subsidised out of the pockets of Choral Society members themselves, has taken months to rehearse, starting back in January.

It also the major summer concert performed by the Choral Society and with its star-studded cast promises to be a truly momentous occasion.

English bass Jeremy White made his Royal Opera debut in 1991 and has appeared in every ROH season ever since, while Katie Leaver, Redditch born and bred, recently played a leading role in the 400th anniversary marking the death of national icon William Shakespeare.

Sean Clayton trained at the Birmingham Conservatoire and since graduating has performed all over the world including with the world famous French company Les Arts Florissants.

Joseph Haydn’s The Creation was written between 1797 and 1798 and is widely regarded as his masterpiece in its depiction and celebration of the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis and in Paradise Lost.

For tickets to the concert, at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St Stephen’s Church, Redditch, call Emily on 01527 546735 or buy from the Christian Word Bookshop at St Stephen’s Church.
