Charities benefit from exercise efforts

Redditch Editorial 28th Aug, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

CHARITIES close to a Redditch pair’s hearts are set to benefit from their exercise efforts.

Paul Amer from Oakenshaw and Neil Overton from Lodge Park will be taking part in the Great North Run next Sunday (September 7), running 13.1 miles for Macmillan Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Paul’s dad was helped by Macmillan when he was diagnosed with cancer while Neil’s father supported BHF and had leukaemia.

The pair have both completed half marathons before but this time are hoping to ‘enjoy it and take in the occasion’ rather than setting a time target.

Neil said: “Whatever we can raise will be great.

“Hopefully with what I’ve put in and other people have it will help people in five or ten years’ time.

“If it prolongs someone’s life a bit longer then it’s worth doing.”
