Charity group marks a milestone

A BOROUGH charity has celebrated 30 years of helping the community.

More than 200 people gathered together to celebrate Where Next’s milestone last Wednesday (September 10).

The charity originally formed in 1984 to provide work experience and training to people with difficulties.

It continued to grow over the years providing products and services to people across the borough – supporting over 100 residents every year.

To mark the occasion the Mayor of Redditch, Coun Pat Witherspoon, opened the proceedings at its Wellesbourne Close base and a presentation was held to honour two staff members for their long service.

Tom Stanley was one of the organisation’s first assistants and is now a valued member of the grounds maintenance team, while nursery manager Nick Houghton has also been a part of the team for 30 years.

A photo exhibition and video display were also made by current staff to show the many products made and grown at the association’s businesses in the town and Studley.

A spokesman for the association said the day was a great success and they were overwhelmed by the number of people who turned up to show their support.
