STAFF at The Rising Sun in Alcester Street in Redditch are celebrating after the pub made it into the Good Beer Guide 2016.
Pub manager Cassie Harwood said everyone had worked so hard over the last 14 months, since she took over, adding they were ‘chuffed to bits’ the pub had been included.
“I’m really happy – all of my staff are cellar trained, we all love real ale and we all drink real ale so it is great that we have made it into the guide,” she said.
The pub offers between eight and ten ales, including three resident brews.
“We have had some really good feedback from our customers about our real ales and they even help choose which ones we have on,” she added.
The CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) publication comes out every year and lists the top 4,500 pubs in the UK.
This is the first time in four years that The Rising Sun, which is owned by JD Wetherspoon, has made it into the Good Beer Guide.
And The Standard was there this week when Doug Robinson, Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA’s membership secretary, surprised the elated Cassie and presented her with the certificate of confirmation.
“It’s great news and well-deserved – I’m so glad they’ve been selected to be in the guide after all the hard work,” he said.
