Church Hill coming together over the park

Redditch Editorial 24th Oct, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

LAST Saturday morning brought Church Hill residents together to dig deep and put more than 300 plants around Church Hill Centre car park.

The plants were supplied by Church Hill Big Local Partnership, which is funded by the National Lottery.

Chair of the community group, Wendy Johnson, said: “When we asked what the residents wanted, it was to brighten up patches of waste ground within the area, to give a sense of pride to the residents. It’s lovely to see the community coming together like this.

“Particular thanks should go to Cutting Edge (Hair Salon),Nxt-Gen (Printers) and to Alex from The Way Café who kept us going with hot drinks and bacon butties, also to local Councillors Bill Hartnett and Nina Wood-Ford and County Councillor Joe Baker.

“But it’s the community itself which should be congratulated. They made it happen.”

The workers were also joined by Olympic Speed Skater Charlotte Gilmartin, who grew up locally.
