A LARGE amount of cigarettes were stolen and a man assaulted during a robbery in Church Hill North.

The incident happened as two men were unloading a van on Parkfield Close at around 12.45pm on October 11 when they heard a man shouting at them.

The first suspect snatched a trolley containing a substantial amount of cigarettes from one of the victims as the second offender assaulted the other man.

The suspects fled to their nearby vehicle – a white Volkswagen Golf GTI that was parked in front of the van – and loaded the cigarettes onto the rear passenger seat before fleeing the scene.

It is understood the car’s registration plates could be cloned.

Both suspects are described as black males, 6ft tall and in their late 20s to early 30s.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw a car matching the above description in the area, should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 357S of October 11.
