A MAN tried to con a pensioner out of her bank details by posing as a police officer.
The 72-year-old from Redditch received a call about 12.15pm on Tuesday (October 28) from someone claiming to be a police officer from Hammersmith in West London.
He said he believed she had been robbed and police were holding two men in connection with the robbery. He then asked for her bank details but the woman became suspicious and hung up without discussing any financial details.
Police are now reminding the public never to give out their bank details and that genuine officers will never ask for them. If in doubt people should call the real police on 101.
