A REDDITCH councillor has called for residents’ help in finding the people responsible for two fires and vandalism which took place in Matchborough on Friday (May 13).
Leader of the Redditch Conservatives, Coun Juliet Brunner has put out the appeal after the fence surrounding the all weather pitch at Arrow Vale was pulled down and a blaze broke out on Matchborough Way at about 6.30pm which she said could have spread to all the nearby trees if it was not for the prompt arrival of the fire service. Emergency services was called again to another fire nearby at Ipsley church Lane at about 8.50pm.
She said: “Not only are lives being put at risk by those setting the fires but the tax payer is picking up the bill for the vandalism.”
Coun Brunner will be meeting with the community safety team and Redditch police to discuss measure which can be put in place to prevent the incidents happening again in the future.
