A KIND-HEARTED teen from Crabbs Cross has donated 12 inches of her brunette locks to a children’s charity which makes wigs for youngsters who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Ashleigh Coffin bid goodbye to her waist length waves at Alcester’s Paul Lenards salon when Paul chopped off more than half of the 15-year-old’s hair in aid of the Little Princess Trust.
“Before the cut I was excited at the thought of donating my hair to such a worthy cause but, I was nervous to see it go,” Ashleigh said. “Now it’s gone I’m so glad I had the opportunity to help children with cancer – hopefully it’s brightened up a child’s day.”
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to youngsters across the UK and Ireland who have suffered hair loss as a side effect of their treatment for cancer.
Working with specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers, the children’s charity works to offer wigs tailored to the individual child’s needs, to give the most realistic look and feel, as close as possible to their original hair.
Ashleigh’s mother, Lynda, said: “It was a wonderful experience, quite emotional and I’m just so very proud of her.”
