MP Karen Lumley, stepped out of her constituency to pay a visit to a family owned distribution company Oakland International, based in Beoley.
Oakland International are specialists in dealing with food and consumer goods, using ambient, chilled and frozen transportation, and have worked in the chilled goods industry since 1998. They have depots both in the UK and Ireland but have had difficulty getting permission to expand their local site, which sits in Bromsgrove district.
During the visit, chief executive officer Dean Attwell discussed their plans for growth and help with funding and Mrs Lumley committed to work with Sajid Javid, their local MP, to arrange a meeting with government minsters to discuss their new business ideas and plans for further expansion.
“I have built up a good relationship with Dean over the years and it was brilliant to hear about how well they are doing,” said Mrs Lumley.
“He has some exciting ideas for the future and I will do all I can to help him and other local businesses access vital support and funding, ensuring they continue to grow and prosper.”
