Cycling to Paris for the Garden Suite

A GROUP of cyclists will be putting pedal power to the test as they embark on a four-day journey from Redditch to Paris.

The ten men will hit the roads from Wednesday to Saturday (July 9 to 12) swapping the streets of the borough for Parisian sights.

They will cover more than 260 miles, heading from Redditch to Caversham in their first day, then to Newhaven on their second, and from Dieppe to Beavais on their third. Finally, they will cover the last leg to Paris on their fourth day.

But the adventure is not just an opportunity to test themselves, as the group also hope to raise money for the Garden Suite at the Alexandra Hospital where cancer patients receive chemotherapy treatment.

Rider James Harley said: “All of us are affected in one way or the other by cancer and therefore we would like to raise money for the Garden Suite at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch where cancer patients are treated.

“One of our cyclist’s father is currently being treated in the unit, as have relatives and friends of the other riders in the past.

“He has nothing but the highest praise for the welcome, medical care and attention and positive encouragement he receives on each of his visits.

“These nurses and doctors really are some of the unsung heroes in our world and so any donation would be greatly received.”
