ALCESTER in Bloom have received a blooming marvellous donation to help the team put on its annual floral display.

Renaissance Villages, the award-winning developer of Great Alne’s Maudslay Park, presented the committee with a cheque for £400 last week (July 29) which will help to fund the town’s renowned summer bloom display.

“This generous sponsorship makes a huge difference to the quality of the displays that we are able to create,” said Coun Jim Kenyon, chairman of the Recreation and Open Spaces Committee.

“Our residents and supporting organisations take enormous pride in maintaining the town’s floral display each year and with their help we are able to keep Alcester in Bloom looking vibrant throughout the summer.”

Dating back to 1980, when the town council decided to spend £30 on daffodil bulbs ready for spring, Alcester in Bloom has become has become something of an institution.
