Developers give a helping hand to food bank

Redditch Editorial 30th Nov, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

KIND-HEARTED developers have set up a foodbank collection point within one of their projects in Alvechurch.

Residents will be able to make donations of non-perishable food to the Barratt Homes, drop off point on Birimgham road, Laurence Meadows, until Friday, December 18.

The items collected will be given to the Redditch Salvation Army and distributed to those in need within the area.

Managing Director, Adrian Farr, said: “At Barratt Homes we’re committed to supporting the communities in and around our developments and so, in the lead up to Christmas, we’ll be hosting food collection points at many of our developments across the region for people to donate food to the Salvation Army and help feed families in need.

“We believe no-one should go hungry and as Christmas is a time of giving we hope the generosity of people in Alvechurch will mean everyone gets enough to eat and has the Christmas they deserve.”

A spokesperson for The Salvation Army said: “We’d like to say a big “thank you” to Barratt Homes and all who will be donating to us this Christmas. With winter approaching many families will be under acute financial pressure over the coming months. With people’s help, we can continue to provide emergency food parcels and immediate practical assistance as a first step to people working their way out of crisis.”

The drop off point is open Monday 12.30pm to 5.30pm and Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 5.30pm.
