A NUMBER of cannabis plants growing equipment and a substantial amount of cash has been seized after a drugs warrant was executed in East Redditch this morning (Monday).

Safer Neighbourhood officers, based in the Winyates Centre, were involved in the warrant and investigations are still ongoing with a 41 -year-old man, who resides at the address, currently assisting officers with the enquiry.

PC Mike Hooper, who has only just joined the Safer Neighbourhood Team from Warwickshire Police, said the team often get calls about properties where it is suspected that cannabis is being grown.

He added: “Not only is this an offence but it often causes a substantial nuisance with frequent visitors to the property and a very strong smell of cannabis.

“We will not tolerate this sort of behaviour and our response will be prompt and robust – we are already looking at a number of other addresses which we are planning search warrants.”
