POLICE are currently trying to apprehend a man who was reportedly sitting on the High Street drinking and shouting today (Wednesday).
More than five officers were on the seen with a squad car a van and an ambulance, on Church Green East at about 3.45pm when they attempted to arrest who began fighting them and shouting.
He swore at several of the officers and threatened to stab them if they did not release him.
One passerby said: “He was just sitting there drinking and swearing in the middle of the day. The language he used was horrendous. They are trying to get him in the van but he just isn’t going.”
Another resident said: “It is unbelievable how many police officers are there trying to get one drunk man into a police van.”
