FESTIVE jumpers will be worn in Studley and beyond to help a brave boy fund-raising for the hospital where he is receiving cancer treatment.

Ollie Stevens-Smith has organised a Jolly Jumper Day for today (Friday) in aid of Ward 15 at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, who will also be taking part in the event.

The nine-year-old is battling a rare type of bone cancer while undergoing chemotherapy. He featured in the Standard last month (November) talking about his fund-raising and has now collected £7,715.

The Studley St Mary’s Academy pupil is hoping to use the money to improve the experience of staying in hospital for other children.

His sister Kira Swannell said many people were getting involved with the event including Ollie’s school, his aunt’s school in Birmingham and the hotel in Norfolk run by family members.

“We are hoping to get other people involved and Ollie’s going to ask people to post a picture of themselves in a Christmas jumper on to his Facebook page. He will then choose his favourite and the winner will receive a £20 Number Works Pub Company voucher a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.”
