HOMES and businesses in the town centre have been affected by a blaze which spread through their roofs.
Emergency services descended on the area around Market Place and Evesham Street shortly before 7pm today (Wednesday) after the fire broke out.
Insp Ben Smith said police were called to assist the fire service as there was initially a possibility all surrounding properties would have to be evacuated.
But the four fire crews on the scene had managed to control the blaze which was now contained.
It is not yet known how the fire started but emergency services were starting to leave the scene at around 8pm.
