REDDITCH property agents John Truslove, together with Handelsbanken, are to support a prostate cancer testing session at the Abbey Hotel in Redditch on Thursday, November 26.

The visit, open to men aged over 45, will run from to 5-8.30pm and is under the auspices of Worcestershire Prostate Awareness Group, a small charity run by volunteers with the help of sponsorship from local businesses and companies.

The blood test is free with the organisers simply asking for a small donation to the charity on the evening.

The session is run by consultant urologist David Baxter-Smith.

He said: “Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer to affect men in this country, with ten thousand dying of this disease each year – an average of one an hour or the equivalent of a jumbo jet full of men crashing every ten days.

“Many are unaware of this potential killer and think that increasing urinary symptoms are part of getting older but by the time prostate cancer starts to produce symptoms it can be too late to offer a cure.”

The disease becomes more common with increasing age – it is unusual in men under 45 but more common where there is a family history of prostate cancer and in men of Afro-Caribbean origin.

As places are limited booking in advance is essential. To reserve your test call 07817 083492 or email [email protected]
