Former Funbusters owner breaches order

THE FORMER owner of a children’s entertainment company who was jailed for downloading indecent images of kids has breached his sexual offences order.

Nigel Bourne, of Hewell Lane in Tardebigge, admitted using a device which could access the internet without written permission at Redditch Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (November 4).

The 29-year-old, who ran the company Funbusters along with his father Robert, was jailed for ten months in October last year after being convicted by a jury of three charges of making an indecent photograph of a child and two charges of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

West Mercia Police officers uncovered about 450 indecent images of children, along with nine other indecent pictures and 74 images of extreme porn on both of their computers, some of which included photographs categorised at the highest level of seriousness.

As part of their sentencing both were given an indefinite sexual offences prevention order which banned them from having contact with children under the age of 16.

Their access to the internet was also limited by installing special software onto devices which is designed to prevent and detect offences.

The order also meant they must get written permission from a police offender manager to use a device which can access the internet.

But Bourne failed to get approval for an iPhone between April and October this year which he accessed the internet on.

Tim Talbot-Webb, defending, said his client thought he had a verbal agreement with a manager to have the phone and use the internet.

“He appreciates now he should have gone back and looked at the order which would have said he needed written permission. He is very sorry this has happened.”

Magistrates asked for a full report to be completed by the probation service for a post-plea hearing on Tuesday, November 25.
