FOUR friends from Redditch have raised more than £5000 in a non-stop charity ‘Race the Sun Challenge’.
The team took the challenge which involved cycling, climbing and kayaking around the Brecon beacons from sunrise to sunset in support of Action Medical Research and have already more than doubled their target money.
Group leader, Christian Shuker said: “Our original fundraising target was £2,000 so to have smashed it is fantastic.
“We are so grateful to the many businesses and individuals who have not only donated but have supported us in so many ways throughout our training and to our families who have been brilliant.”
Calling themselves Team Wrong Direction, the friends decided to support Action Medical Research, the leading UK-wide charity working to help save and change children’s lives through medical research for those affected by rare conditions.
Almost everyone in the UK will have benefitted in some way by Action Medical Research’s work which includes the first polio vaccines, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine.
Christian added: “As we’re all fathers we wanted to support the charity’s work, which is for so many children across the UK the only lifeline available.”
