Francesca takes on run challenge

A BOROUGH pre-school worker has been gracing the small screen as part of a campaign to get women running.

Francesca Kennedy appeared on This Morning after taking on their Run For Your Life challenge.

The show followed three novice runners who have to train for five weeks in a bid to complete their first ever 5k run.

With the guidance of Nell McAndrew the trio were on a mission to encourage other women across the country who thought they could not run and did not have the confidence to take that first step.

The 23-year-old, who works at Crabbs Cross and Hunt End Pre School, said she applied to take part to improve her fitness but never thought she would be picked.

“I was a bit down in the dumps about not being able to exercise and I thought why not give it a go. I had to get through a three stage process and when I was picked I just could’t believe it.

“I was scared people were going to shout out names while I was running, but you just start to realise everyone is doing it for the same reasons you are.”

“It was really daunting but I wanted to do it for myself and to get the message out to everyone who thought they couldn’t do it or were worried,” she added.

“I felt amazing after the run and now I want to carry on. All the parents and staff have been so supportive and it has been chain reaction with them also taking it up.”
