Fun day aiming to send Cheyenne on dream trip

A BOROUGH social club will be hosting a fund-raising day to help send a seven-year-old cancer survivor to Disney World.

Cheyenne Ali-Moulder was first diagnosed with leukaemia when he was just four-years-old.

The brave youngster has since gone on to beat the disease twice and is currently resting following a stem cell transplant and intense course of radiotherapy at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

After hearing his story, residents have been fund-raising to send the youngster to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

And now staff from the Abbeydale Community Club have shown their support by hosting the fun day on Saturday, June 28.

More than 40 people will be braving a bungee jump to boost funds, while a mechanical bull, bouncy castle, stalls and live music from Redditch band New Killer Shoes will all be on offer from 12pm.

Entry is free but donation buckets will be available on the day, while people can also pay £50 to bungee jump or they can jump for free if they have £70 worth of sponsors.

Mum Michelle said the support from the community had been overwhelming.

“Everyone has just wanted to help and it is just so moving. He loves superheroes so to go to Orlando would just be fantastic for him.

“He’s a little fighter, an absolute trooper. He keeps me going and is so brave and just is constantly smiling.” she said.

“He’s spent half of his life in and out of hospital and has had to go through painful and scary times and getting to go to Orlando would just be amazing.

“You want the best for your children and you want to make them happy. He’s been through awful times, I just really hope he keeps on being a fighter and we get through this and he gets stronger and gets to enjoy adult life.”

Teresa Dawson, committee member for the Abbeydale Community Club, added:” We just want to help in anyway we can. Everyone in the area knows what the family have been through and if we can do something to make them happy then we will.”
