FIND out more about diabetes at an information stand in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Friday, June 17.
The move is part of a joint initiative by Diabetes UK and Redditch Borough Council to tackle some of the myths and misconceptions about diabetes.
It’s aimed at residents who suffer from diabetes or want to learn more about it and the stand will be in Worcester Square from 10am to 1pm offering healthy lifestyle advice, information about local support groups and recommendations from a specialist diabetes dietician.
Claire Mitchell, health improvement co-ordinator for Redditch Council, said: “It is estimated that we have just under 5,000 people in Redditch with diabetes and this figure is increasing year on year.
“We are hoping to raise awareness locally about how people with diabetes can make positive changes to their lifestyle to manage their condition but the advice on offer is useful for anyone looking to make healthy changes.”
To learn more about support that is on offer, come to the stall in the Kingfisher Centre for some information or a chat. Alternatively, contact Claire Mitchell on 01527 548220.
