THE TIME has come for residents to start creating their own scarecrows so they are ready to enter the annual competition on Sunday, August 28.

The Scarecrow Day contest will be judged by Redditch Mayor Councillor Joe Baker at the Forge Mill Museum and the winner will receive £75 worth of Kingfisher Shopping Centre vouchers, the runner up £50 with third place £25.

The day will also include face painting, craft stalls, pony rides and scarecrow dancers as well as the chance to get up close to some of zoo’s animals.

Tickets cost £2 and £1 for children but there will be a free Dial a ride mini bus from Abbey Stadium.

To prepare for the main event the museum will hold scarecrow making days on Wednesday, August 24 and Thursday, August 25 between 11am and 3pm. It is £3 for material and residents will just need to take old clothes to use on their creation.
