A TEAM of Redditch golfers have swung their way to success in a national golfing challenge.

Gary Roberts, Adam Roberts, Craig Stokes and Adam Cooper have almost doubled their sponsorship target of £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in the charity’s longest golf day event.

The group, from The Golden Goose, on Wild Goose Lane, tee’d off at 4.45am at the Abbey Park Golf Club and completed four rounds of golf, 72 holes, and over 24 miles.

Gary said: “It was a good day, a bit warmer than we expected but we made a really good pace and got round quickly.

“We all enjoyed the day and the aches and pains, lost golf balls and sunburn were all worth it.”

The Golden Goose team are currently at £915 on their justgiving page but Gary said there is still another £800 in sponsorship to add to the pot.

Mayor Councillor Pattie Witherspoon, along with the team’s friends and family, was on hand to to cheer the lads on throughout the day as they drove their way to the final hole.

The lads are now set to host a sports and soaps quiz in aid of Macmillan at the Golden Goose on August 29 and sponsors can visit https://www.justgiving.com/GGGS2015/ to donate.
