A REDDITCH woman has raised £1,000 for the Macular Society through a ladies night in honour of her grandfather who suffered with the condition.
Sara Kenny organised the event with her mum, Maureen, and sister Dawn Ford which took place at The White Hart in Headless Cross.
Macular degeneration affects central vision and can impair the perception of colour and detail.
“We as a family would like to thank all the local businesses for the kind donations for our raffle prizes,” said Sara.
“We had 72 prizes donated which was amazing and we were touched by the generosity of all the businesses that helped out.
“The Macular Society is not a very well known charity but we lost our granddad in February and this condition greatly affected his confidence in his later years and hopefully we have raised more awareness but more importantly we raised money for more research to help other people living with this condition.”
