A REDDITCH barber has snipped her way to success, taking the crown as Midlands Hairdresser of the Year.

Amy Clayton, a self-employed barber from Headless Cross, has been cutting hair for almost five years and opened The Groom Room Barbershop two-and-a-half years ago at Imogen’s Hair and Beauty Salon in Headless Cross.

The Standard has followed her success since June where she first wowed judges with her 50 Shades of Grey theme and on November 15 Amy was declared a winner at Birmingham’s Player’s Bar.

“I was overwhelmed when I was announced a winner,” Amy said. “I like to participate in hair competitions regularly throughout the year to keep my work creative and keep on top of the current trends.”

Amy scooped the accolade for the Male Expert category, beating off 15 other finalists, and took home a trophy, certificate and a bottle of bubbly to celebrate.

She added: “As the theme of the competition is 50 Shades of Fashion, I decided to do a 50 Shades of Grey style.

“My look was very dapper and my model was suited and booted while I cut and styled both his hair and beard.”
