A REDDITCH hotel is set to star on the small screen as part of a hit property programme.
The Southcrest Manor Hotel was the backdrop for an episode of Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun: Home and Away.
In the episode show presenter Jonnie Irwin helps a family who live near Wythall find a home which will also cater for a narrowboat in Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.
The Pool Bank hotel was used as the filming location for where the couple discuss what they thought of the properties shown to them.
The duo also visit Canal du Midi in the south of France to see if they could start a new life abroad.
Jonnie Irwin said: “At the end of the show we wanted somewhere quiet and attractive to find out what their thoughts are and so we came here because it has got beautiful gardens and it is quiet and away from the crowds.
“I’ve been here before and it’s quite nice filming in a patch you know like the back of your hand and I love coming back. The hotel is very friendly and the food is great.
“I know this area really, really well, but when you’re dealing with people who know so much about the area already it can be quite tricky.
“This episode was particularly different because we are catering for a member of the family which we usually don’t have to – a 50ft narrowboat.”
Maxine Napolitano, business development manager, added the hotel had hosted previous stars such as
Danny Dyer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Todd Carty as well as being used for Location, Location, Location.
She said: “It has been great having them here and its lovely they approached us because of our lovely views.
“It is a great compliment to receive and just shows the wonderful things this hotel has to offer.”
