Hundreds enjoy Studley switch-on

HUNDREDS of residents flocked to Studley Village Hall for its first ever Christmas lights switch-on.

Residents gathered at the centre last Friday (December 5) to witness the event organised by the parish council, Studley Christmas lights committee and the village hall maintenance committee.

Coun Julian Ingram and his consort Susan Woodward-Ingram switched on the lights with the help of school pupils and committee member Ella May Todd.

A festive fayre offered a variety of handmade crafts health food, beauty products and Christmas goodies, while the Find Your Voice Community Choir performed a selection of carols.

Youngsters also had the chance to meet Father Christmas at his grotto.

A spokeswoman from the council said the event was hopefully one of many more to come.

“We’d like to make it bigger every year. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and the children especially liked meeting Santa.”
